I had not been following the fangirl kerfuffle at all, but Rochelle's post and particularly this portion resonated. The world didn't ask me to be a blogger. It certainly doesn't pay me to blog. So far as I see it, my only duty as a blogger is to do whatever the hell I want. I'll act responsibly only because I choose to, not out of any sense of duty. Some days I'll be an unprofessional ranter, contributing to the din of the echo chamber. Other days I'll write something insightful and unique - or at least that's the aim.
